Are some of you asking, “what is labor day anyway?” Most of us equate it to a super sale at one of our favorite stores or the beginning of another school year but do we really know the significance of the celebrated day? Labor day is a celebrated day recognizing the labor movement of 1882, a street parade in New York’s union Square created to strengthen union workers and other organizations, and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of their country.
What does Labor Day signify for your business? For some it may just be another day because an entrepreneur can be the sales assistant, the manager, and the marketing rep all in one. Some might not even realize it is a holiday. I hope you are able to take a moment today and enjoy the fruits of your labor! I encourage you, if you are in the midst of sending out yet another follow up email, to stop and sip on some yummy tea or coffee and relax a bit. This should be a day of rest and relaxation for the laborer. A time to reflect on all your hard work, give yourself a pat on the back and just chill.
